Senior Director, Batteries and Consumer Energy Resources Environment, Planning and Sustainable Development Directorate, ACT Government

Amarjot Rathore (Amar) is the Senior Director, Batteries and Consumer Energy Resources at the Environment, Planning and Sustainable Development Directorate, ACT Government.

Previously, he served as General Manager (SES Band 1) of the Renewable Energy Target Branch at the Clean Energy Regulator, where he oversaw the administration of Australia’s Renewable Energy Target program.

From November 2016 to June 2017, Amar was the Principal Advisor to the National Electricity Market Security Review Taskforce, led by Australia’s Chief Scientist, Dr. Alan Finkel AO.

With over 25 years of experience in senior roles within the Australian Public Service and eight years working on electricity generation, transmission, and distribution projects in India, Amar brings deep expertise in the energy sector.

Amar holds a Master’s degree in Engineering with a specialisation in Power Systems and a Postgraduate Diploma in Information Technology from the University of New South Wales.

Amar is a member of Engineers Australia and a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Energy.
