Dr Asem Mousa
Asem has over 25 years of experience in a variety of roles, including quality control management, research scientist, consulting, R&D portfolio management and innovation leadership.
Currently leading the Revolutionary Energy Storage Systems Future Science Platform, Asem brings together a team with researchers at all levels and across CSIRO to develop innovative energy storage platforms, aiming for a cost-effective transition to a zero emissions economy in Australia.
As Principal Sustainability Innovation at BHP, Asem lead the development of the organisation’s decarbonisation pathways blueprint and initiated several collaborative programs focused on emerging technologies for GHG abatement across the mineral processing value chain.
Asem holds a PhD in Chemistry from UNSW, an MBA from Monash University, and has completed an Executive Education course at Melbourne Business School, Leadership for Strategic Success.
Passionate about driving change in greenhouse gas emissions through technology and fostering a culture of sustainability awareness in businesses, Asem is also actively involved in numbers of community organisations, either as Board member or focused on promoting science and engineering education amongst disadvantaged youth and migrant communities.
