Australia has emerged as one of the hottest markets globally for energy storage.
Australia’s energy storage capacity is set to increase significantly from 3GW currently to at least 22GW by 2030 and 49GW by 2050 to meet future energy demands and reach its 2030 target of 82% renewable electricity generation.
At the close of 2023, the Australian Government announced its biggest energy policy change introducing the Capacity Investment Scheme (CIS), unlocking 9GW of energy storage and A$10 billion in investment.
Since then, additional initiatives have been announced including the National Battery Strategy and the Future Made in Australia framework, which commits A$22.7 billion to making Australia a renewable energy superpower.
